For those who perform ruqyah, the law is sunnah, because it contains elements of goodness for those who are ruqyah, based on the words of the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace:
"Whoever among you can benefit his brother, then do it." (HR. Muslim). While for people who are ruqyah, the law is mubah.
There are two types of ruqyah: syar'i ruqyah and shirky ruqyah.
Ruqyah syar'i is a ruqyah that comes from the book of Allah and the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, as well as prayers that do not contradict them. Ruqyah is generally performed by pious and pious people. Ruqyah like this is accepted in Sharia.
Ruqyah Shirki is ruqyah with words that are not understood, such as spells that contain shirk and the like. Generally, this ruqyah is done by the defenders and the devils. This ruqyah is forbidden by law in the Sharia, it is forbidden to be used for ruqyah, and it is forbidden to approach people who perform ruqyah like this.
