Due to protocol differences between iPhone and iPad systems, touch functionality is not supported when connecting an iPhone to an iPad.

iPhone and iPad devices, starting from the iPhone 15 Pro Max and later, can only support screen mirroring, not extending the display or touch functionality. Only Mac M1 models and later support full functionality, including touch, via a single cable connection without the need for an external power source.

There are two types of touch-capable connections: The first type uses a full-featured Type-C port, where a single Type-C cable can transmit video, touch, and power signals. If the device lacks a full-featured Type-C port, two cables are required: one HDMI cable for video and another USB-A to USB-C cable for touch and power signals.

Simply connecting an HDMI cable and power cable will not enable touch functionality, as HDMI does not support touch signals. This limitation is due to industry technical standards, not the device itself.

With the exception of Huawei's flagship models, all smartphones in Xiaomi, Vivo, and Oppo's lineups currently lack support for portable display connectivity.
