Author: Sheikh Muhammad bin Sulaiman al-Jazuli
The Dalail al-Khairat book by Sheikh Muhammad bin Sulaiman al-Jazuli is the oldest and legendary book of prayers in the Islamic treasury. This book is still read by Muslims in various countries, including Indonesia. Dalail al-Khairat taught how to send beautiful prayers to the Prophet Muhammad SAW.
There is an interesting story behind the writing of this book. One day, Sheikh al-Jazuli traveled to Haramain. In the middle of the journey, at the top of the desert, it was time for the noon prayer. Sheikh al-Jazuli stopped in a Bedouin village. There he saw a large well. But there is no bucket to take water. He went back and forth looking for a bucket to take ablution water. But not found. Until a small child came to him.
What are you looking for, great Sheikh asked the little boy. I looked for a bucket to take water from the well. Do you know where that is replied Sheikh al-Jazuli while looking for a bucket. The little boy approached the well and whispered something into the well. Suddenly the water in the well overflowed. Sheikh al-Jazuli was amazed to see the miracle. Sheikh al-Jazuli asked, oh my son, how can you achieve this high position The little boy replied, By reciting blessings to the person who when he (Prophet Muhammad) walks in the wilderness, wild animals will wag their tails (become tame). After listening to the speech of the little boy, the Sheikh then vowed to compile a book that discusses the blessings for the Prophet Muhammad.
