Common problems and solutions
The window cannot be raised or lowered:
Check the fuse: First, check if the fuse related to the power window is blown.
Check the switch: To confirm that the main switch is working properly, you can try testing the electrical connections of the switch with a multimeter.
Check the motor: If the switch is normal, there may be a problem with the window motor. You can try directly powering on the motor to see if it is working properly.
Check the window track: Ensure that there is nothing blocking the window track and remove any possible obstacles.
Check the window regulator: If the window regulator is damaged, it may need to be replaced.
Slow or no response to the switch:
Cleaning switch: Sometimes dust or dirt may accumulate inside the switch, please try cleaning the switch.
Check connection: Ensure that the cable connection of the switch is good and not loose or corroded.
Steps for replacing the switch
If you are sure that the driver's side power window main switch needs to be replaced, you can follow the steps below:
Preparation tools: You will need a screwdriver, a pry bar, and possibly a multimeter.
Disconnect power: Before performing any electrical work, be sure to disconnect the negative terminal of the car battery.
Remove the interior panel of the car door: Use a screwdriver and pry bar to carefully remove the interior panel on the driver's door to access the switch.
4. Dismantle the old switch: Find the main switch of the power window, unplug the connecting wire, remove the fixing screw, and take out the old switch.
Install new switch: Connect the new switch to the cable and secure the screws.
Reinstall the door panel: Reinstall the door panel to ensure that all clips and screws are securely fastened.
Connect the battery: Finally, reconnect the car battery and test the new switch to see if it works properly.
