-Mount Soldering Practice Board with Rotating LED Circuit
This project is aimed at those new to soldering -mount components. It allows you to hone your skills in soldering resistors, capacitors, diodes and LEDs, transistors and IC chips. The kit includes an 85x54mm printed circuit board (PCB) and 126 -mount (for SMD) electronic components. A simple rotating light wheel project in the central section of the PCB gives you the chance to put your newly learned skills to the test!
The areas on the left and right sides of the PCB are for practicing your soldering skills, while the central area has a functional electronics project with sequentially flashing coloured LEDs.
In the practice zones, you can improve your expertise at -mount soldering with 78 components in four standard sizes ('1206', '0805', '0603' and '0402'). The board is compatible with mount soldering techniques using a soldering iron and fine solder wire, or solder paste and a hot-air rework station, or even with a professional reflow oven. If you haven't had any experience with soldering -mount components before, you can find many helpful instructional videos online. Each column of practice zone components is connected to test pads at the bottom of the board, so that you can use a multimeter to check that everything is well connected.
The project area of the board will, if soldered correctly, reward you with a display of 15 coloured LEDs! There are 48 components in the project. Once you have finished soldering, connect a battery or other DC voltage of between 4V and 12V (not supplied) to the power input pads to launch the rotating light display!
