The AMG8833 infrared thermal imager sensor from Panasonic is an 8x8 infrared thermal sensor array. When connected to your microcontroller (or Raspberry Pi), it will return a set of 64 individual infrared temperature readings via I2C. This is like those fancy thermal imagers, but compact and simple, easy to integrate. AMG8833 is Panasonic's next-generation 8x8 thermal infrared sensor, providing higher performance than the previous AMG8831. The sensor only supports I2C and has a configurable interrupt pin that can trigger when any individual pixel is above or below the threshold you set.
The temperature measurement range of the AMG8833 infrared thermal imager sensor is 0 ° C to 80 ° C (32 ° F to 176 ° F),
The accuracy is+-2.5 ° C (4.5 ° F). It can detect humans from a distance of up to 7 meters (23) feet. The maximum frame rate is 10Hz, making it perfect for creating your own human detector or mini thermal imager. We use this breakthrough code on Arduino compatible (sensors communicate through I2C) or Raspberry Pi using Python. On Pi, with the image processing assistance of the SciPy Python library, we can insert 8x8 grids and obtain some very good results!
