The "Unmoving Bright King", also known as the "Unmoving Bodhisattva", is an important deity in Buddhist Tantra. Here is an introduction about him:
Basic information: The Sanskrit name is Acalanatha, where "not moving" means a strong heart of compassion, "light" represents wisdom and brightness, and "king" symbolizes the mastery of all phenomena. It is the wheel body of all Buddhist teachings and is known as the king of all wise kings, the main deity of the five wise kings, and the first of the eight wise kings in Buddhist Tantra.
• Image features: Typically a fierce and stern looking child, with a dark complexion, a flowing braid on the left side, wrinkles and ripples on the forehead, closed left eye, open right eye, lightly biting the upper right lip with lower teeth, holding a sword in the right hand and a rope in the left hand, sitting on a large stone slab, with flames and wings resembling a crane behind.
Main responsibilities: To use angry images to deter evil spirits that disturb sentient beings, keep them away, protect sentient beings from deviating from the bodhicitta of good thoughts on the path of practice, eliminate various difficulties and obstacles, and help practitioners maintain firm beliefs.
• Related legends: Legend has it that Shakyamuni Buddha once ordered the Unmoving King to persuade the arrogant and disobedient Great Self in Heaven who refused to listen to Buddhism. With his powerful authority and anger, the Unmoving King instilled reverence in the hearts of the Great Self in Heaven couple and ultimately converted to Buddhism.
In Chinese Buddhism, the Vajrayana is the guardian deity of those born in the Year of the Rooster. In Tibetan Buddhism, the Wrath of the Undying King is the revered deity of Adixia and one of the four main gods of the Gadang sect
