Bougainvillea, also known as Bougainvillea (scientific name: Bougainvillea spectabilis Willd.), Bougainvillea, Bougainvillea is a woody vine-like shrub with curved thorns and densely grown hairs. The leaves are alternate, ovate-shaped, thick tomentose, and blunt apex. The flower is very small, yellow-green, and three flowers are born in three red bracts. The outer red bracts are large and beautiful, with bright red, orange-yellow, purple-red, milky white, etc., which are mistaken for petals because of their similar shapes. Leaf, so it is called Bougainvillea. Flowering period can start from November to June of the following year. In the winter and spring, the colorful bracts show up, giving people an unrestrained and enthusiastic feeling, hence the name He Chunhong.
Bougainvillea breeding methods and matters needing attention
Soil: The soil for bougainvillea cultivation can be made from garden soil, leaf humus soil, and fine sand. Watering: water once a day in spring and twice a day in summer. Keep the pot soil moist in autumn and reduce watering in winter. Fertilization: apply appropriate amount of nitrogen fertilizer in spring, apply phosphate fertilizer several times during flowering period, and stop fertilization in winter. Light temperature: 20-30℃, more than 8 hours of light per day.
One,Soil
The soil of Bougainvillea is generally mixed with garden soil, mulch soil, and fine sand, with an appropriate amount of bone meal added. Buy back small pots of Bougainvillea directly from the flower market. There is no need to change the soil in the short term, just use the original soil. After cultivating for 1 to 2 years, some new soil is replaced when changing the pots. The proportioning method is as follows (I don't tell him for ordinary people):
Garden soil: mulch soil: sand is mixed according to the ratio of 5:3:2, or peat soil: mulch soil: sand: perlite is mixed according to the ratio of 5:2:2:1.
Two, watering
Bougainvillea requires a relatively large amount of water, and watering varies slightly in each season:
In spring, the growth of Bougainvillea gradually accelerates, and it needs to be watered every day, and water is often sprayed on the leaves and surroundings to increase the air humidity. If there is less watering in spring, the humidity will be insufficient, causing leaves to fall.
In summer, Bougainvillea needs water to be watered, watered twice a day, sprayed in the morning, and watered once after 4 pm.
In autumn, after the temperature drops, keep the pot soil moist. Reduce watering when the temperature is lower than 10℃ and keep the pot soil dry. If the temperature is above 15°C, water can be properly watered.
Reduce watering in winter, and do not water the pot soil.
Three, fertilization
Bougainvillea likes fertilizer. After the weather becomes warm in spring, nitrogen fertilizer is applied every 10-15 days, cake fertilizer water is applied once a week during the growth period, and phosphate fertilizer is applied several times during the flowering period. Reduce the amount of fertilization after the autumn is cool, and stop fertilizing in winter. During the peak season of growth and flowering, spray 1000 times potassium dihydrogen phosphate solution on the leaves 2 to 3 times, or topdressing general fertilizer once every 10 days.
Note: Bougainvillea is very sensitive to urea. Improper fertilization may result in lush foliage and few flowers, so be careful when applying urea.
Four, light temperature
The suitable temperature for the growth of Bougainvillea is 20~30℃, and leaves will appear when the temperature is lower than 5℃ in winter.
Bougainvillea likes light, but the lack of light will weaken the growth of the plants, which will affect flowering. Bougainvillea should be placed in a bright place in winter, and the daily light time should not be less than 8 hours, otherwise a large area of fallen leaves will appear.
Five, matters needing attention
1. Flower pot selection. It is best to choose a rectangular or oval purple clay pot for the conservation of Bougainvillea. The color should not be too deep, so that it can bring out the color of the Bougainvillea. The right flower pot not only makes the Bougainvillea grow stronger, but also looks more pleasing to the eye.
2. Plastic trimming. There will be a lot of natural phenomena such as falling leaves and falling flowers before and after the flowers of Bougainvillea. This is unavoidable, but it is necessary to clean up the fallen leaves in time, cut off the damaged branches of the diseased branches, and treat the new branches. Topping should be done frequently to promote branching and ensure vigorous flowering.
3. Prevention and control of pests and diseases. Bougainvillea has fewer pests and diseases, and usually occurs in winter and spring. Scale insects and thorn moths will be harmed when going out and entering the house. They should be found and removed in time during home maintenance and sprayed with medicine.
