Product description
There is no guarantee that this will eliminate your O2 sensor CEL. Some vehicles will need their ECU reset if the CEL is triggered before hand.
On ODB-II vehicles (96+), the ECU has two O2 sensors for diagnosis. The first oxygen sensor is located before the catalytic converter. This oxygen sensor is responsible for all air/fuel regulation and is crucial for the operation of the vehicle.
The second oxygen sensor is located after the catalytic converter. The sole purpose of this oxygen sensor is to ensure a functioning catalytic converter in the system. The method by which it can detect this is to ensure that there is a difference in exhaust gas between the first oxygen sensor and the second oxygen sensor. If the same exhaust reading is detected, the ECU knows that the catalytic converter is damaged or there is no catalytic converter at all.
Then, the ECU will trigger the check engine light. In some cases, the vehicle will enter an "empty" mode, in which the vehicle will not exceed a certain speed and will essentially become useless.
This mechanical oxygen fixation is basically a method of separating oxygen sensors, so that it can still read some exhaust gas, but it will remove the oxygen sensor from the direct flow of gas, making the ECU believe that there are limitations such as catalysts in the exhaust gas.
