Fan Zeng (born July 5, 1938), with the courtesy name Shiyi and the pseudonym Baochongzhai Master, is a giant in Chinese calligraphy and painting and a contemporary Confucian scholar. He is currently a life professor and doctoral supervisor in both literature and history at Nankai University, a lifelong researcher and doctoral supervisor at the China Academy of Art, the honorary dean of the Calligraphy and Painting Institute of the China National Museum, a special advisor on multiculturalism for UNESCO, a cultural communication advisor and ambassador for China Online, and holds chair or tenure professor positions at 15 universities, including Peking University, Shandong University, National Defense University, and Nantong University. He holds honorary doctorates in literature from the University of Glasgow in the UK and the University of Alberta in Canada. He has been awarded the French Legion of Honor Knight Medal, the Italian Republic Grand Officer Medal, the International Olympic Committee President's Trophy, multiple honorary model taxpayer titles, the title of Outstanding Member of the Democratic League, and the Lifetime Achievement Award of the Chinese Arts and Literature Award.
