Meitan County, Gui Zhou in South West China is "The Hometown of Famous tea in China." Meitan Maofeng tea variety belongs to Fuding Dabai tea (Camellia sinensis var. pubilimba Hung T. Chang). It is normally picked by hand in 10-15 days before and after the Chinese Qingming festival. After a whole winter’s rest and nutrition accumulation, tea buds grow fat and fresh, and with elaborate processing turn into Meitan Maofeng finished tea. Tea leaf color is emerald green, oily and glossy, the tea soup is light green and bright clean, tasting mellow and refreshing, is a rare high quality green tea. Meitan Maofeng Tea was officially born in 1974 and was created to commemorate the Zunyi Conference. It is now one of the famous teas in China and is a much-loved daily tea of the people of Guizhou.
