Description: Kang Kong or water spinach is one of the very familiar green leafy vegetables used in the South and South-East Asian cuisine. It's gently sweet. Succulent leaves and stems are very much sought-after in the salads, braised and stir-fries. Kang Kong greens are very low in calories and fats.
Germination time: 5-9 days.
Harvest time: 21-30 days.
Spacing: Can be grown densely.
Fertiliser: High nitrogen fertiliser every 2 weeks.
Challenges / Tips: First harvest is 21-28 days after planting. Cut off, leaving 8 cm. Plant will regrow again. Harvest before flowering so that it can't form seeds. Beware of aphids and black spot leaf disease.
Suitable for hydroponics. Can be grown with other plants.
