Product description
The 3-6mm perlite tend to float on water, so if it rains heavily, they will float on top of the pot. For plants growing outdoors, we will recommend chunky 10-20mm perlite.
Perlite is mineral (volcanic glass) that is heated to create the round, white form that resembles Styrofoam balls. It does not have significant nutrient content, but it helps to create the ideal environment for life to thrive in the soil. Adding perlite to soil creates the conditions for robust root growth, enhances water retention in the root system, and optimizes drainage capabilities.
This has high porosity and draining capabilities. It is best suited for succulent plants and orchids.
It is also least affected by winds, but it doesn't work its way up to the topsoil very easily.
Do take note that perlite gives off dust. Wear a mask to protect yourself when working with perlite.
