Product description
YuQing KuDing Tea
Kuding Tea is a herbal tea in China which has been brewed for more than 2000 years. Its consumption is second only to regular tea(Camellia Sinensis).
There are 2 main types of Kuding Tea: Large leaf Kuding Tea (Ilex kudingcha) and Small leaf Kuding Tea (Ligustrum Robustrum). The large leaf Kuding tea is more well known unlike the small leaf Kuding Tea. The large leaf Kuding has a bitter astringent taste while the small leaf Kuding is more tea like, less bitter with a fragrant after taste.
In the “Tea Classics”, Lu Yu (733 – 804 AD), listed the small leaf Kuding as an excellent wild grown tea commonly drank in the central parts of Guizhou.
The locals in Guizhou drink this wild herb both as a tea as well as a remedy. In TCM, it is a common medicine to treat different illnesses and recent research have shown the health benefits of Kuding Tea that efforts are being made to identify and extract the different types of active ingredients for use.
Small Leaf Kuding tea does not propagate easily and only in the 1990s that efforts and was made to plant this tree. With Yuqing’s unique geographical advantages, education, standardisation and quality supervision, in August 2005, Yuqing Kuding Tea was approved to be protected as a geographical indication product of the People’s Republic of China.
Packed in Tea Bags for convenience.
