Clove (Eugenia aromatica) - The name clove comes from clavus,the Latinword for nail, the shape of which the spice closely resembles.The clove tree ,a member of the myrtle family and native of south-east Asia, grows to 9 m (30ft) and flourishes only in tropical climates near the sea. The spice is theyoung unopened flower bud. It is dried,when it turns a red-brown colour andbecomes one of the strongest spices.
