It has the sweetness of roses, the fragrance of plum blossoms and the remoteness of orchids. It is simple and natural. It is a good product of potted flowers and is deeply loved by people. In addition to potted plants, jasmine is also the main raw material for smoked scented tea.
Next, let's take a look at the jasmine planting method!
Sowing method of jasmine seeds
(1) Seed treatment: Before sowing, the seeds can be soaked in clean water to increase the chance of germination, and then plant the seeds after the shell of the seeds is cracked.
(2) Seeding: First prepare a breeding tray with loose soil and air permeability. After the seed treatment is completed, the seeds are taken out and sown in the seedling tray. After sowing the seeds, cover the surface with a layer of soil 0.5-1 cm thick. Watering is not allowed after sowing, otherwise it will affect the germination rate of jasmine seeds. If the soil is relatively dry, spray on the surface of the soil until it is wet, and then cover the surface with a plastic bag for moisture and heat preservation. The temperature is controlled at 20 degrees Celsius to sprout faster. During the day, you can lift the plastic bag for a period of time to ventilate, and keep the soil moist, but don't pour too much water, which will soak the seeds.
(3) Shady and cool maintenance
Before germinating, jasmine seeds need to be maintained in a cool and dark place. If light is given, it will accelerate the loss of water, which will also affect the germination of the seeds to a certain extent. After rooting, the surface soil can be watered to moist. When the jasmine grows a few true leaves, you need to increase the frequency of watering.
2. The selection of potting soil for jasmine planting and the method of transplanting to flower pots
(1) Soil selection: The jasmine plant requires that the soil is rich in organic matter, and has good ventilation and aeration performance. You can choose a fertile slightly acidic sandy soil.
The cultivating soil for jasmine potted plants should have rich organic matter, and have good water retention, permeation and aeration performance. It can be mixed with 4 parts of leaf-mould, 3 parts of garden soil, 2 parts of river sand, 1 part of cake fertilizer or livestock and poultry manure. Soil, or it can be mixed with 5 parts of leaf-mould, 4 parts of sandy loam, and 1 part of cake fertilizer, and put bone meal on the bottom of the basin as base fertilizer.
(2) Transplanting to flower pots should be carried out before the new shoots germinate from March to April. After transplanting, place it in a shaded place to avoid blind sunlight. After normal growth is restored, sufficient light should be provided.
For potted jasmine, it is advisable to change the pots every 1 to 2 years and replace them with new cultivation soil. Roots are generally not removed when changing pots, but should be watered thoroughly, put in a sheltered place to restore growth, and pay attention to loosening the soil.
2. Watering method for jasmine planting
Proper watering is the key to the growth of potted jasmine. Too much watering will cause the leaves to turn yellow suddenly; long-term over-humidity of the pot soil causes poor soil ventilation, resulting in rotten roots, yellowing and falling off leaves, and plant death. If the roots are rotten due to excessive watering, move the flowerpot to a cool place, stop fertilization, control watering, and loosen the soil frequently to make the soil aerate well and promote the germination of new roots.
Watering should be determined according to the season and temperature. From April to May in spring, start to draw branches and grow leaves, and the water consumption is not large. Water can be watered once in 2 to 3 days, preferably around noon; June is the spring flowering period, watering can be slightly more, it should be watered 1 day Secondary water: July to August in summer is the high temperature period and the jasmine blooming period. Water should be watered once in the morning and in the evening. At the same time, spray water on the leaves 1 to 2 times a day, and spray water around the flowerpot to increase the air humidity. Gradually reduce the amount of watering in autumn, and water once every 1 to 2 days from September to October; in winter, the amount of water should be strictly controlled to keep the pot soil slightly moist. Generally, water once every 5 to 7 days. If the pot soil is too humid, the roots will easily turn black and rot, and the leaves will turn yellow and fall off. When you find that the leaves have just turned yellow, pay attention to stop watering, let them dry for a few more days, and then water them appropriately to restore normal growth.
Jasmine likes slightly acidic soil. If the soil is alkaline, the leaves will turn yellow. During the growth period, 0.2% ferrous sulfate water should be poured once every 10 to 15 days to keep the basin soil acidic.
3. Fertilization method for jasmine planting
Jasmine has a long flowering period and requires a lot of fertilizer, so the fertility of pot soil should be sufficient. It is necessary to grasp the principle of applying thin fertilizer and diligently, especially in the period of flower bud formation. However, too much or too thick fertilization can easily cause root rot. The fertilization time is better in the evening, and the pot soil should be loosened before application. Be careful not to fertilize the pot soil when the pot soil is too dry or too wet. The best effect is when the pot soil is half moisture. Jasmine likes acidic soil, and "aluminum fertilizer water" can be used as top dressing. From the beginning of the spring to the end of September, the decomposed thin cake fertilizer should be applied once every 7 to 10 days, with a concentration of 15% to 20%;
During the period of pregnancy buds blooming, thin fertilizer should be applied frequently, and the thin fertilizer should be applied once every 5 to 7 days, with a concentration of 10% to 15%. When fertilizing, increase the application of phosphorus and potassium fertilizers. Add 0.1% to 0.2% potassium dihydrogen phosphate or 0.5% superphosphate solution to the cake fertilizer solution to promote flower bud differentiation; It makes the plants elongated and affects the formation of flower buds, resulting in no flowering or very little flowering. Fertilization should be stopped from October to increase the maturity of the branches, which is beneficial to overwintering.
4. Illumination requirements for jasmine planting
Jasmine likes the sun and is not tolerant of shade. Only by satisfying sufficient light can it grow vigorously and flourish. If it is placed in an overly shaded place for maintenance for a long time, and the light is insufficient, it is prone to become elongated, the leaves are large and thin, and do not bloom or rarely bloom. At this time, the plants should be moved to a sunny place, appropriately control the application of nitrogen fertilizers, apply more phosphorus and potassium fertilizers (such as plant ash, bone fragments, fish bones, rice water and other retting fertilizers), and properly control watering. After a period of maintenance, pregnancy buds can bloom.
5. The pruning method of jasmine cultivation
Jasmine is generally trimmed indoors in early and mid-March every year, and the pots are changed at the same time. Generally, the branches can be kept 20 cm long when pruning, and the rest should be cut off; old branches should be cut off from the base to encourage them to re-germinate strong new branches. At the same time, cut off dense branches, long branches, weak branches, and old leaves.
Jasmine usually blooms in the same year after being planted, and the most blooming plants are 3 to 6 years old, and they will become senescent year by year and need to be re-cut and renewed in time. During the growth period, the elongated branches of the rhizosphere gourd should be cut off as soon as possible to avoid affecting the flowering of other flowering branches.
