Product description

Gardenia cultivation methods and matters needing attention 1. Soil Gardenia prefers acid soil with a pH of 5-6. It is suitable for planting in loose, fertile and well-drained acid sandy loam. Cultivation soil usually chooses leaf soil, peat soil plus half of garden soil, do not use cinder, or directly purchase gardenia special soil, which is convenient and practical. 2. Fertilize Gardenia like fertilizer, add decomposed cake fertilizer to the soil as base fertilizer when planting. During the growing season, use cake fertilizer and ferrous sulfate to make fertilizer and water once a week. Fully nutritious organic liquid fertilizer can also be used. Topdressing 1-2 times during the budding stage and watering the potassium dihydrogen phosphate aqueous solution can make the flowers grow fat and have a rich fragrance. If the temperature is above 35°C in summer and 15°C in autumn, stop fertilizing. 3. Watering Gardenia likes a humid environment. During the growth period from April to September, keep the pot soil moist. Watering should follow the principle of "See dry see wet" (that is, watering enough water once when watering, and then watering a second time when the soil is almost dry). you can spray the leaves at night to maintain humidity. If the plant grows too vigorously, do not water it at night, water it after the sun comes out in the morning. 4. Sunlight Adequate sunlight is a necessary condition for the growth of gardenia. If there is no light for a long time, its flowering branches will be very thin and difficult to bloom. Except for proper shade in summer, it is no problem to raise it directly in the sun in other seasons. 5. Temperature Gardenia is suitable for growing in an environment of 20-28°C. It needs certain measures to cool down when the temperature is too high in summer. It must be kept at 5-12°C in winter and not too low, otherwise it will be frozen. Can not be too high, otherwise it will break its dormancy. 6. Matters needing attention (1) Prevention and control of pests and diseases. Gardenias are more prone to yellowing disease, leaf spot disease and scale insects, especially in the flowering summer, when the weather is hot and humid, fungal infections can induce diseases and insect pests. After the discovery, the agent was sprayed for disinfection in time and isolated from other plants to avoid infection. (2) Soil acidification. Gardenia like fertilizer, but afraid of thick fertilizer. During the growth period, apply decomposed cake fertilizer once every half a month, with a low concentration, so as not to burn the roots and affect the growth of flower buds. At the same time, attention should be paid to acidify the soil in time. Most of the water in the home is alkaline, and long-term watering will cause the soil to alkalize. Watering ferrous sulfate solution in a timely manner can change the pH of the soil and promote the growth of plants. (3) Dormancy in winter. Although gardenias are hardy, the root system of potted gardenias will be damaged after severe winter, and recovery will be slower in spring. But placed in a heated room, the temperature is higher, the light is insufficient, the plant growth slows down, and the next year it blooms later. The best way is to put the potted plants in a 5°C environment to hibernate, or wrap the pots with thermal insulation materials and put them in a sunny and leeward place for overwintering. (4) Proper pruning. When the main stem of the gardenia grows to 20 cm, the apex is cut off, leaving 3 to 4 branches to promote the branching. After blooming every year, lightly prune and cut off weak and diseased branches. However, gardenias should not be short-cut in spring, otherwise it will be difficult to bloom that year. (5) Change pot soil in due course. The vitality of gardenias is strong, and the seedlings grow from a few centimeters to several tens of centimeters, so change the pot according to the size of the plant. When the stem length of the plant is 2 to 3 times the diameter of the flowerpot, it needs to be changed. When changing pots, you should trim the old roots in time, change half of the soil, irrigate them thoroughly, and place them in a semi-shady place for a week. After they grow new shoots, move them to the sun.
