The world-renowned Thai Hom Mali Rice (Thai Jasmine Rice) has been the most important aromatic rice originating in Thailand because of its superb fragrance and cooking quality which is characterized by its soft-texture, aromatic, long-slender white rice. Hence, Thai Jasmine rice is officially known as Thai Hom Mali rice. Hom Mali local landrace varieties were widely distributed throughout Thailand under a variety of names including ‘Khao Hom’, ‘Hom Mali’, and ‘Khao Mali’. With only one crop per year, Thai Jasmine Rice (New Crop) is prized for its strong aroma and soft texture when the rice grain is young. However, the majority would still prefer old crop which would require the rice to be aged to one year old in order to achieve beautiful cooked grain without being sticky.

PREPARATION

Add 1.2 cups of water to 1 cup of rice and cook in rice cooker for consistency results. Fluff the rice when cooked and let it sit in the rice cooker for 20 minutes before serving.
