•Planting: The soil needs to be loose, fertile, neutral and slightly alkaline. Cut off the broken and diseased roots of the planted peony seedlings, soak insecticides and fungicides into the pots or pits prepared in advance. The roots should be stretched, fill the pots or pits and lift the seedlings gently, and seal the soil firmly. The depth should be slightly lower than the surface of the pot or the ground at the rhizome.
•Watering: water thoroughly after planting. Avoid standing water in peony flowers, and water them as appropriate during the growing season. In the arid areas of the north, water is generally used before watering the flowers, water after flowers, and frozen water. Potted plants can be cut off and buried in the ground after the flowers bloom.
•Fertilization: One year after planting, fertilization is feasible in autumn, mainly decomposed organic fertilizer. It can be combined with soil loosening, spreading, and hole application. In spring and summer, use chemical fertilizers, combined with watering to apply pre-flower fertilizer and post-flower fertilizer. Potted plants can be combined with watering and liquid fertilizer.
•Pruning: In the year of planting, multi-row flat stubble. After germination in spring, leave about 5 branches, and wipe the rest to concentrate nutrition to make the flowers big and beautiful in the second year. In autumn and winter, combine with the clearing of the garden, and cut off dried flower stalks, thin and unflowered branches. When potting, trim it into your favorite shape as needed.
•Inter-cultivation: In the growing season, inter-cultivation should be timely to remove weeds and pay attention to the occurrence of diseases and insects. In autumn and winter, plowing is carried out on the sky blocks of peonies more than two years old.
•Changing pots: When the potted peony has grown for three or four years, it needs to be replaced in a large pot with new fertile soil or planted separately in the branches.
•Spraying: spray stone-sulfur mixture before germination in early spring, use a mixture of insecticide and fungicide in summer, once every 2 weeks depending on the condition. Combined with fertilization, it is advisable to add chemical fertilizers and growth regulators.
•Flower urging: In order to increase festivals or celebrations, the peony can be heated about 50 days in advance according to the variety. The temperature is controlled at 10-25℃, and the average daily temperature is about 15℃. Pay attention to keeping the plants moist in the early stage, ventilate and transmit light after budding, and control the temperature according to the requirements of the flowering period after budding. Foliar fertilization is usually required to ensure adequate water supply. In this way, flowers can be seen at any time in winter and spring.
•Ornamental: The natural flowering period of a single peony is about 10-15 days, which shortens with the increase of temperature, and can be maintained at 3-8°C for more than a month. For field planting, you can use temporary shelters to protect from wind and light to extend the viewing time. Potted plants should be moved to a place away from direct sunlight, at a temperature of 5-10°C, and a ventilated and light environment. Water in a timely manner depending on the appearance and the moisture level of the potting soil. Do not pour water on the flowers, so that the flowering period is the longest; the cut should be cut when arranging flowers, and the wound should be cut in water or burned. The water for flower arranging should be put into preservative or a little sugar to prolong the blooming time of flower arranging.
