Xu Beihong (1895-1953) , a Han Chinese, was born Xu Shoukang, from qitting town, Yixing City, Jiangsu Province. Chinese modern painter and art educator. He studied Western painting in France and has been engaged in fine arts education since his return to China. He has taught at the Department of National Central University Arts, the College of Fine Arts of Peking University and the BAC Binh Art College. Dean of China Central Academy of Fine Arts after 1949.
