Xu Beihong (1895-1953) , a Han Chinese, was born Xu Shoukang, from qitting town, Yixing City, Jiangsu Province. Chinese modern painter and art educator. He studied Western painting in France and has been engaged in fine arts education since his return to China. He has taught at the Department of National Central University Arts, the College of Fine Arts of Peking University and the BAC Binh Art College. Dean of China Central Academy of Fine Arts after 1949. He was good at figures, animals, flowers and birds, and advocated realism. In the tradition, he especially praised Ren Bonian. He emphasized the reform of traditional Chinese painting and the integration of Western painting techniques, the emphasis on the anatomical structure of the object, the accurate grasp of the skeleton, and the emphasis on the ideological content of the work had a great impact on the Chinese painting scene at that time.
