Li Keran (March 26,1907 -- December 5,1989) , a native of Xuzhou, Jiangsu province. An outstanding modern Chinese painter and poet, a disciple of the painter Qi Baishi. Li Keran started painting as a child and learned landscape painting at the age of 13. He is a 43-year-old China Central Academy of Fine Arts professor and a 49-year-old landscape painter who has traveled thousands of miles to sketch. At the age of 72, he is vice-chairman of the China Artists Association and President of the Chinese Painting Academy. In old age, the pen tends to be old and spicy.
